Hotel la Sapiniere at Omaha Beach

We are going to be in Normandy in Dec. We are planning to stay in Bayeux but was reading Rick's France book and saw Hotel la Sapiniere close to Omaha Beach. Has anyone stayed there and would you recommend it? Is it too isolated? Is the restaurant there ok? We will not have a car and are planning to book a tour of the WW2 sites.

With no car, I would advise you to stay in Bayeux. I'm not sure how you would get to la Sapieniere without a car. D Day tours leave from behind the Churchill Hotel in Bayeux., which is but a block or two from the Tapestry and the Cathedral. Lots of nice cafes there too. You would be very isolated and it is quite cold and dreary along the Channel coast in December.

js,

I'm not sure how many of the D-Day tours will be operating in December. If you plan on taking a tour, I'd suggest contacting them well in advance and making arrangements. Tours will probably be on the expensive side, as there will be fewer tourists to split the cost with.

Especially at that time of year, I'd also recommend staying in Bayeux.
