I've stayed at this hotel, 5th arr, several times and see it's no longer one of the recommended hotels in the Rick Steve's Guide. I really like the location, feel like I know my way around there. Has anyone stayed there recently? Had a bad experience? Or know another good hotel in the Mouffetard area?
is the reason you won’t return there because it’s not listed the current guide book?
Have you looked at any of the review sites to see what recent guests thought? The recent reviews on booking.com looked pretty good. And I trust that site over TripAdvisor
I'm somewhat concerned because it isn't in the current guide. It was charming before the latest renovations and they look garish, I must admit.
But thanks for suggesting I check booking sites for reactions.
Omission from the guidebook could be related to a perception of value rather than quality. Maybe the rates were raised enough following the renovation that the editors feel there are better options. I'd check the reviews on booking.com.
Oh we stayed there on our first trip to Paris and loved it! It was clean and simple and CHEAP. I remember paying 100E a night. But it looks like rates have gone up significantly after the remodel (higher 200E). In my opinion it was kinda far from the sights for that cost. I bet Rick left it off because of that. We have since found a home (away from home) in the Marais.
