Hotel inside CDG

Hi all,

I am traveling to France next week with 2 teenagers (17 & 18). They arrive from Chicago and I arrive from Delhi. In case my flight is cancelled (and I need to reschedule) or experiences a long delay, is there a hotel inside CDG, where they can get a room (worst case for an overnight stay)?

Thanks,

Sharon

The Sheraton is the most "in" the airport of the CDG hotels since you can enter it without exiting the building. I stayed at the Hilton, and it is just outside the door of the train station at the airport. I would heartily endorse the Hilton. The staff was great and my teenagers probably loved the Hilton over anywhere else we stayed in France because the wifi and AC were strong and the rooms were large.

It was also a solid base of operations for a last minute addition to our itinerary. It was so easy to turn in the car and shuttle over to the hotel. That night we made the 2 minute walk to the RER station and rode to the Stade de France for the France/Croatia match and back. Then in the morning we just rolled out of bed and were at the terminal in a matter of minutes.

To clarify the above: the Hilton is at Terminal 3, on the CDGVal internal tram line. The train station is in Terminal 2. There are many hotels at the Terminal 3 internal shuttle stop The Sheraton, now a Marriott, is the only one built into the airport, in Terminal 2 just above the train station.

Double check to see the minimum age for renting a room. Most hotels have a minimum age they will rent to.

I think a bit further clarification is needed still. There are two train stations on the RER B line at CDG. One is at Terminal 2, as Bets noted. But the first station (when coming towards the airport from the city) is CDG 1, which is the Roissypole/Terminal 3 building located right next to the Hilton. If you were going to the Hilton from the city, you get off at CDG 1, walk up the stairs, go out the first set of doors to the outside, and walk a couple of hundred meters to the front entrance of the hotel.

Edit: I see where my confusion is originating "two train stations on the RER B line." I don't mean to wield a red pen but we usually say RER station, even if the Aeroport de Paris signs say "Paris by train" although they mean RER--their bad.
Then the Aeroport de Paris and RER administrations further complicated the situation by calling the stop below Terminal 3, CDG 1, while there is a (closed) Terminal 1 in a different building. And then I totally forgot about the RER station in T2, although I used it just a month ago, flying to the US--my bad. Confusion all around.

So for anyone who has stumbled on our jumble, here is an attempt to distinguish the transportation at CDG, which is enough to spin anyone's head, especially with so many similar names:

CDGval is the internal tram system within the airport.

RER in T3 and T2 is the transportation system that circles greater Paris with lines A and B going through. This regional system goes into the Paris suburbs and sometimes a bit beyond. The RER stations are in Terminals 2 and 3. Terminal 1 is still closed.

Trains from the train station in Terminal 2:
TER are local trains from the SNCF train station. I've never paid attention if any TER or Intercity trains leave from CDG. However, some regional TER trains that leave from Paris city train stations go to neighboring regions such as Burgundy, the Loire, etc.
TGV high-speed trains leave from the CDG train station to Brussels, the Mediterranean region, Brittany, etc.

The RER B stop is not in Terminal 3, it is at Roissypôle which is a separate building from, yet a short walk to, Terminal 3. The CDGVAL also stops at Roissypôle, not Terminal 3.

The Gare routière (bus station) is also a short walk from Roissypôle.
