Hotel in Paris with easy access by train to CDG

My friend and I have most of our trip planned. We'll be exploring Normandy, Brittany and Loire by car and take a train to pairs from Loire, spend 1 night in paris before heading to CDG airport the next day. Any recommendations? What's a good neighborhood to stay in that has easy access to airport? We don't want to stay near airport.. we really want one more evening in Paris before we leave. We'll need a place with 2 beds October 6th of this year. Thank you.--Renee

I'd suggest a hotel near the Luxembourg stop on the RER "B" line, which takes you right to CDG. That will be around the Blvd St-Michel, near the Pantheon. Or maybe the next stop north, St-Michel, but that might be a little too busy for the sleep you'll need. Other posters will have their favorite hotels. Fun neighborhood close to the Luxembourg Gardens and the river for your last night in the City of Light. RER to the airport should take about 40 minutes but don't take chances, allow an hour.

For one night it would also be worth staying around Denfert-Rochereau, which is the next one in to central Paris from Luxembourg on Line B. The neighbourhood isn't close to big tourist sites, so hotels aren't overpriced, but it's nice nevertheless.

In general, the Metro-to-RER connection is good in Paris such that I don't worry about making a connection while en route back to the airport (traveling light helps, of course).

I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to get to one of Rick's suggested small hotels, namely the Hôtel de La Motte Picquet (30 Avenue de la Motte-Picquet) in the Rue Cler neighborhood - - Metro Stop is Ecole Militaire (~400ft away).

The one we pick when briefly in Paris is Henri IV Rive Gauche which is near Notre Dame and just around the corner from the St. Michel RER for the airport.
