Hotel in Paris during Fashion Week

We were originally looking for a hotel in Paris, preferably in Marais, for 2 nights in the first week of October. Unfortunately, that is Fashion Week and the price of even reasonably priced hotels has tripled at least. We are now looking to stay away from the centre of the city, perhaps Montmartre (other suggestions) in the hopes that a room would be more reasonable. Ideally, we would like to spend 200-225 Euros a night. Any suggestions? We would also consider a B and B.

Many thanks,

Wanda

Fashion week itself is not the reason hotel prices rise dramatically in September and October. It is the collective effect of multiple conventions, trade shows, and exhibitions as well as the fact that business returns to normal after the summer vacation. Hotel prices can almost double from what they were in August. Here are some suggestions around 200€ per night near the Marais and the Oberkampf areas, locations which many tourist miss because they are not mentioned over and over in tourist forums.

We're going the 2nd week of October and are staying at the Citadines Place D'italie. It is outside the centre, but well located and well connected.

I hope you have a fabulous trip!

With your budget take a look at
Familia Hotel. It's in a good location in the Latin Quarter, about a 10 minute walk to Notre Dame.

I'm going to be in Paris during that time but I booked my hotels in about February. What I am seeing when I look at my choices now for the 1st week of October is that they are mostly sold out for that time frame, are using dynamic pricing on their rooms and have seriously hiked prices on the few rooms they have left.

For instance for one hotel the prices I'm paying per night the first week of October range from 260E-282E per night (depending on the day of the week). When I look at the hotel website now I see the prices starting at 382E per night. I realize my hotel costs even last February are not where you wish your price point to be but just giving you the comparison for booking early and booking fairly late.

I do think you may need to consider upping your budget.

I needed to add on that first week of October and the prices are shocking compared to earlier. September and October are the high cost hotel weeks -- and right around Christmas.

Thanks for so many suggestions, so many lovely places I have never heard of. Live and learn. I thought this time of the year would be less expensive than the summer. I miscalculated Euros to Canadian... the budget I mentioned is not enough, will probably look up to 300 Euros.

Many thanks,

One last question. Does anyone know about l'Hotel du Loiret? http://www.hotelduloiret.fr

It was in RS France book a few years ago. The online reviews vary. It seems there is a lot of noise from a bar across the street.

Many thanks,

3.6 stars for hotel du Loiret from Google reviews, that's very mixed in my book. I typically don't consider places rated less than 3.9 in France.

"will probably look up to 300 Euros."

I'm glad you have upped your budget a bit! I think it will give you more choices.

Depending on your days, you might find something at Hotel Muguet. It's not in the Marais or Montmartre. It's in the 7th near Les Invalides and Rue Cler.
