The forum recommended Hotel de Celestines appears sold out in late May. Besides the Mercure, does anybody have a recommendation for a similar style hotel, modernity not required?
Hôtel des Artistes is located near Place des Célestins as well and is quite good, if it's available. We've stayed there numerous times while in Lyon for concerts, shopping, or medical appointments.
Hotel Collège is in a former middle school. Quaint as all hell and centrally located.
The Mercure Perrache has an old-school style that is lovely.
If you're okay spending more, Hôtel de l'Abbaye is as central as it gets and it so lovely
To close this off, my brother in law chose the Grand Hôtel des Terreaux for his stay in Lyon.
When we were in Lyon 2 years ago, we wanted to stay at the Hôtel Des Artistes, but it was unavailable. Instead, we chose the Hôtel des Remparts, and enjoyed it. I posted a review:
