Hotel in Good/Safe Neighborhood of Nice 4 days with Daughter and 17 year old Granddaughter

Appreciate any recommendations for a nice hotel (not 5 star) near Place Massena, walkable to sights, tram, promenade, and in a safe area of Nice. I currently have a reservation at a Best Western Hotel Lakmi , 44 Avenue Maréchal Foch . It looks decent but I’ve never stayed in Nice and am not sure if it’s a safe area. Cathedral is near by. Anyone have any hotel recommendations or opinions of this hotel’s location?
Thanks in advance!

We visited Nice for the first time about 3 weeks ago - a group of 4 including my husband, and our 20-something and teen daughters. Rented an apartment in Old Nice on Place Rosetti using Nice Pebbles rental agency. Was a fabulous experience and would absolutely return. Want to note that weather was in the 60's during the day. Our particular apartment did not have air conditioning and there were about 70 steps to get to our unit, with no elevator. Nice Pebbles has lovely apartment rentals (some with A/C, several with easy access / no steps) in all parts of Nice. We are able to get-by using our French skills, but it was reassuring to know those at Nice Pebbles are native English-speakers from the UK, with an office not far from Place Massena. Check in / out was simple - would highly recommend.

I am a solo female traveler and just returned from Nice. While I did not stay in this exact area I walked around it and it seemed perfectly safe! The hotel itself gets great reviews and seems like a good choice.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked Nice! It was the last stop in my Provence and French Riviera trip and I wished I had planned for more days there. The Promenade des Anglais is gorgeous and you will love just walking along it. You may be intersted in the 4-day Nice Museum Pass for €15. Even though two of the big museums it covers are temporarily closed (Matisse and the Modern Art Museum), I still felt like I got my money's worth. I visited the Massena Museum, the Lascaris Palace and the Jules Cheret Museum of Fine Arts (this one was a bit disappointing).

Enjoy your trip!

The Lakmi seems well-located, close to two tram lines, and also the station if you want to take a train up or down the coast.

I stayed at the Mercure Marche aux Fleurs, next to the Opera, facing the beach, and closer to Place Massena. This hotel doesn't have an elevator, and in my room the bed was up a 12-step spiral staircase above the living area and bath. They have other kinds of rooms, I expect a room for three people would be easier to navigate. I thought the location was ideal.

The location is fine, it is close to the mall and the main shopping street. I would only avoid the short cut to the train station, after the main Blvd Jean Medecin, on Rue d'Angleterre, Rue d'Italie and Rue de Belgique. It is one area that some people feel uncomfortable and the city is trying to clean up, due to some drug related activity/loitering. It is easy to avoid by sticking to the main Blvd on the way to the station. And the restaurants, bakeries and cafes on that side of the boulevard are much better (generally though in the direction of Place Massena). .
