Hotel in CDG or near with shuttle?

We are departing out of Terminal 1 and have to be there by 4AM. Should we stay at the Sheraton inside the airport near Terminal 2 or at a hotel closer to Terminal 1 but not inside the airport (Holiday Inn Express, Mercure) From the airport map it looks like I need to take the airport shuttle from the Sheraton anyway.

Thank you for any input!

AT the airport on the CDG VAL. There are several at Roissypole on the CDGVAL. We use the Novotel.

All the hotels along the CDGVAL are inside the airport. There are a number there, 7 actually, anyone of which will be closer to terminal 1 than is the Sheraton.

We tend to forget the four hotels on the CDG VAL Parking R stop: Holiday Inn Express, 2 Marriotts and INNside by Melia a very nice Spanish chain. BTW, we’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn ( big breakfast included) and eaten dinner at the INNside nextdoor at least twice.

I’ve stayed at the Citizen M Hotel, walking distance from the CDGVAL at Terminal 3 and liked it very much . Terminal 3 is actually closer to Terminal 1 than Terminal 2 is. Go figure. There are several other hotels at Terminal 3. All the terminals are connected by the CDGVAL.

... have to be there by 4AM.... Strikes me as a little earlier. Contact the airline or CDG to make sure that the check-in counter is open at that hour. You don't want to be waiting for a check-in counter to open when you could be sleeping.

Thanks everyone. Great suggestions. Our flight leaves at 6AM (yuck) but checking when things open is a great idea. We leave on a Saturday in October so there should not be many people. I noticed that the CDG VAL's website says it does not open until 4AM anyway.

I have stayed at the holiday inn express. They have a grab and go breakfast from 4-6, Regular breakfast starts at 6, Clean room, quiet, lots of hot water and one shuttle stop from Terminal 1.

Stay at the Sheraton. It's very nice and so convenient - especially for an early flight!

The Sheraton is not convenient for someone flying out of Terminal 1, as the OP is.

They will do much better -- i.e. be much closer -- if they stay at one of the hotels along the CDGVAL, as noted several times above.

The Sheraton is also way overpriced for the quality of the hotel. You’re paying for location. And they know it.

I’m doing something similar later this year because I’m landing at Paris at 10 PM and I’m just thinking I should stay at the airport at first night. I’ll be honest my decision is going to be which of the places on the little train system is cheapest because it’s gonna be a short stay. 😂

Looking for inexpensive? If you have an AARP membership, the Holiday Inn Express at Parking R was 50€ cheaper for us than the Ibis for the same date. Same level of quality, but better bathroom, few toiletries, large room, big breakfast included, which makes the price difference 76€.
But to get to the hotels, you have to cross the tracks to exit, elevator up and over and out, and follow the signs. Can be confusing.
Edit: It's nextdoor to the INNside, where we've eaten dinner twice.

I spent enough time last fall at the INNside by Melia to sample the neighbouring hotel restaurants. INNside suited my tastes the best. It is a 5-miutes-or-less walk to the shuttle train and the staff were accommodating.
