We are going to Loire and 1st day was going to end the day seeing the Chateau de Blois light show. So thinking we should stay near by so we don't need to travel far after the show. Any hotel or b+b recommendations nearby? Thanks!

There are a number of fine hotels in Blois but if you want to stay away from town, I really like the hotel/restaurant Auberge de Launay just downriver from Blois. Ask for a room on the backside, away from the road.
I assume you will have a car.

I haven't stayed at many hotels in Blois, but the Ibis Blois Centre Chateau gets good reports. We also know people who have stayed at the Mercure who have been happy.
About 15 minutes from Blois is Golf de la Carte, which is an apartment style hotel on a golf course. The rooms are a decent size, there is a bar, restaurant and pool. It's also very quiet. Launay has a good reputation but is a further 15 minutes down the road.
Quick hint - when you're searching for hotels, don't search hotels in "Loire". Loire is a department (think county) about 4 hours drive from Blois.
