We enjoyed staying at historic Hotel Lion d’Or. Parking included. Excellent dining too.

I totally agree with Suki. I was about to recommend the Le Lion d’Or. Recently had a most enjoyable stay there. Convenient to the sights of Bayeux. Nice relaxing lounge for an afternoon drink. Enjoyable breakfast. On-sight parking.

I've read that the Hotel Lion d’Or doesn't have air-conditioning. Was that an issue for you?

On the Heart of France tour in 2019, the group stayed at the Hotel d'Argouges. My notes are sparse, but favorable. I noted that the room was nice, and the breakfast good. I do remember that the location was good, as well.

I don't remember a/c or an elevator, but since we seldom use those, I don't pay attention. I try to remember to make notes for my trip reports, but didn't this time.

It gets great reviews on Trip Advisor, so may be worth your time to check it out.

I must add that the Bayeux Tapestry is magnificent.

I stayed at the Hotel Rheine Mathilde last October. I was in the annex building. Very clean and quiet. On the days I didn't have housekeeping, they left me a basket of fresh towels, coffee, tea and milk for the kettle, and a couple of packages of cookies.

My room had exposed beams and older furniture but the bathroom was as modern as you could want.

The pickup point for D-Day tours is right behind the hotel.. All the rooms have a/c.

Regardless of what anyone else thinks, or believes, or says.......I like A/C. I sleep better when it is cool in the room and I can wrap myself up in the duvet.

If you’d consider a B&B…Logis Les Remparts was very nice. Beautiful room and plenty of free parking outside the front door. I believe it was RS recommended when we stayed a few years ago.

We stayed at the d'Argouges in September 2019. I was concerned about sharing such a small hotel with a tour group, albeit a Rick Steves tour group, but it was no problem at all. Really nice rooms, and a good location. In 2010, we stayed at the Churchill - perfect location next to the meet up place for most D-Day tours, although Overlord picked us up in the parking lot across from the d'Argouges. In addition to "the fullness of time", the Churchill has changed ownership since our stay, so I can only personally vouch for the location.

Both hotels are within walking distance of the train station.

We love Hotel d’Argouges and have stayed there many times. Wonderful owner and staff, two lovely gardens, lots of flowers, great breakfast, off-street pkng, very clean, good beds, great location in the heart of town, and very quiet as it’s down a driveway and sheltered from street noise.

Frank II, now I'm intrigued, Who besides me doesn't like A/C? And I feel about that like I do about luggage and what class to fly: To each his or her or their own.

We liked the Churchill which is just across a couple of parking lots from the Bayeux Tapestry and near the pick up spot for the Overlord Tours. It is decorated with WWII memorabilia and photos and has a nice commons room on the first floor where we got the local pommeau which is apple juice and calvados to enjoy in the front of the fire.

We were there in late October so I have no idea about AC. The room was comfortable. There are a couple of snapshots of the hotel lobby/stairs in the link above.

We were there in May. We really enjoyed our stay at the Tardiff Noble Guest House. It is a lovely facility, breakfast is in included, they have parking and it is a block from the Cathedral.

You will spend a little more but I cannot recommend Villa Lara enough. Very nice hotel conveniently located, with an elevator, but best part is their superior customer service. If you mentioned something in casual conversation they were already checking it out and giving you options before they booked it for you. And the breakfast each morning was way, way more than a simple continental breakfast. It was worth every penny we spent there.

We always book hotels with a/c but it isn’t listed. We were there in October. I would check into that if returning to Bayeaux.

We stayed at Le Petit Matin B & B a few years ago. I would go back to Bayeux just to stay there. The Room was beautiful, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast room was beautiful and the food was delicious. We parked the car in front and never moved it while in Bayeux. We were able to walk to restaurants and to the pick up for tours.
