Hotel in Avignon

We'll be river cruising in September and looking for a nice hotel in Avignon, easily accessed from the train station. Any thoughts?
Thanks--

Avignon has two train stations. The Centre station is, indeed, central, just opposite the opening in the walls for the main city street. That's the old one, still used by regional trains. The newer station is on the fringe of the city, built for the fast SNCF inter-city trains. There is a shuttle from there to the downtown area, although still outside the wall. Some hotels may be closer, by taxi, to the one or the other. I know the big Accor chain has hotels at several price levels but my personal experience is out of date.

By the way, the Avignon municipal tourism office is very helpful for many tourist questions, both on--line and at its main office.
Here is its website, although the English pages aren't working this morning: https://avignon-tourisme.com/en/bienvenue/#

In 2014, we stayed at the Colbert. There were several couples staying there before their river cruises. The location was perfect - you could even walk to the "TGV" train station, but it would be a bit of a walk. Some TGV trains leave from the main station, or did at that time.

It's not the most luxurious or friendliest place I've ever stayed, but the price and location are spot on.

Avignon Grand Hotel is right next to the Central train station. Very nice, modern, but nothing overly fancy. Basically comparable to a nice Holiday Inn but very convenient.
