Just as an FYI, if you arrive at Marseille Airport, the bus is far more convenient (line A2), and if you are coming from central Marseille, the bus is faster too, and more frequent (line 50 from Gare St Charles, 49 if you happen to start from the La Joliette area).
The bus station is very close to the train station so it does not change anything for your hotel search.

We stayed a Hotel Rotonde, also in that area. It was fine and I’d stay there again. We needed parking, which the Rotonde has.

I really enjoyed Hotel Cardinal, which is a 10 minute walk from the station. Some might find their decor a bit old fashioned, but I found it super quaint! Loved the quiet location too.
