Does anyone have any information about hotel France Louvre, it's in the Marias, on rue de rivoli. TA reviews are somewhat mixed. We chose it based on the location, price and the fact that it has AC.
Thanks so much
Well the price is cheap for the location,.. so I expect some folks don't understand what that means.
Rooms will be small. Perhaps very small.. especially if you book a single .
Services will be minimal.
As for some of the reviews mentioning dirty rooms.. I am surprised,, most of the photos showed rooms I would consider clean ( for the price paid) except I did see one dirty bathroom, and that does gross me out.
However the price is really cheap.. location is really good, and it has AC..
Keep reservation but keep looking perhaps?
ps When is visit.. which month?
Hotel Castex is in the Marais and has double rooms with air-conditioning and was recently remodeled. If you are willing to stretch your budget, the price for a double room is about 133 EU per night.
It's on a much quieter street, and you only have to walk 1.5 blocks to get to any Metro station. Lots of things to do in this neighborhood, too.

Here's another hotel in the Marais with a/c:

Thanks so much for your response. This trip will be from 6/26-7/3, and I'll be with my 17year old son. This will be his high school graduation trip and a chance for us to spend time together away from the rest of the family before college.
We're planning on a month long whirlwind trip, from Paris culminating in Amsterdam. I've chosen hotels based on location, price and AC, and our budget is really tight. This hotel seems to be the least expensive based on my research, as its $121/nt.
We're planning on walking around most of the time, so the location seems to be ideal for that, but if you have any other suggestions for hotels in the same price range, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks
I'd go with chexbres recs for the Marais (love this area). Much better to pay $12 more for a nice hotel vs one with bad reviews.
Hotel Diana in the Latin Quarter is highly regarded here on the forum (I've personally never stayed), and it looks like it is within your budget if you go with the no-cancellation rate. It's in a great location very close to the Sorbonne.
What a fun trip you and your son will have!
Dawn is right, Hotel Diana is very good. A friend stayed there recently and liked it. I stopped in there a couple of weeks ago and saw a single room... I was really surprised at how nice the room was. The room was so nice it could have been in a more posh hotel. The lobby though, looked like a bare-bones hostel to me but don't let that put you off as the room is really what counts. It's in a great area, very central and close to the river and Nôtre Dame.
Did you notice that the bathtubs are in the bedrooms at the Hotel France Louvre? I don't know if you are the mother or father, but if I were traveling with a grown offspring of the opposite sex, I don't think either of us would want to be sharing a room under those conditions.
@ Bets, Oh no, I'm going to have a look at those photos again. I'm the mom and definitely need privacy. It'll be bad enough sharing a room with my teenage son! I'll look at Hotel Diana, I know it's in the Latin quarter, is that as nice as the Marais?
Or I'll change it to the hotel Castex, I think Susan is right, I don't want to spoil our vacation for an additional $12.
Thanks everyone, your suggestions have been so helpful, sometimes it's difficult to see the "big picture".

I just looked at Hotel Diana, there doesn't seem to be a door for the bathroom either :(
This was for a double room, unfortunately the twin room doesn't have a lot of photos. I guess I'll have to email them, but apart from this, it's great. Thanks.
The single room I saw at Hotel Diana had a regular door for the bathroom.
The Marais and Latin Quarter are very different. But both equally very good. The Marais has more charm, has a fun vibrant energy, and definitely much hipper. I like the Marais better but they're both very good and both great locations in relation to the sites/sights.
I wanted to clarify, in case anyone else was wondering about Hotel Diana, the bathrooms do have doors! I received a very prompt response to my email.
I have stayed at the Hotel Diana.. the bathrooms definitely have doors!!
Its a good hotel... and very clean.
I have also stayed at the Hotel Eugenie.. very clean, small rooms, but good ac.. good staff and excellent location. I am not sure it might be a bit more $$ though.. but check they have specials.
Does Hotel Diana have air-conditioning?
The Marais is a little less crowded, especially if you stay at Hotel Castex.
The Latin Quarter is easy to walk to - about 15 to 20 minutes, if you want to see what that's all about - it's crowded mostly all the time with students and tourists.
Why don't you check with the Hotel France Louvre to see if they have doors, too. Perhaps the photos were deceptive. People may have mentioned in their reviews if the tubs were in the room, or if there was a sliding door, or some other system to ensure privacy.
