I'm taking the Eastern France tour, probably April 2027. I've got several hotels I love and have stayed in on previous Paris trips. However, his guide doesn't seem to have any recommended hotels anywhere in this area. The closest I've stayed is in the Marais near Rue de Rivoli. Any hotel recommendations further north than that? I like clean, safe budget to moderate hotels with an en suite & a little charm and a friendly staff. I tend to eat breakfast outside the hotel.

Are you staying in Paris a few days before the tour? If so, metro lines 4,5 & 7 go to Gare l'Est. When we took the Eastern France tour 2 years ago we stayed in St. Germain a few blocks from either the St.-Michel and Cite metro stops and took line 4 to the train station. If you are in Paris and using the metro no need to limit yourself to near the gare.
It is an easy train ride to Reims and if the hotel hasn't changed it is just a couple of blocks from the Reims gare to the hotel. If it is the same hotel, it is very nice. On the tour there will probably still be a few hotels the bus will not be able to get close to, so you will be walking with your bags one place or the other.
Le Citizen is an easy walk to Gare de l'Est. We have stayed there 3 times, the last time in 2019.
Thanks. I looked at Hotel Whistler and it is certainly a possibility. I don't like to take the Metro with my rollaboard as so many metro stops have stairs. I prefer to walk or take a taxi when I have luggage. Le Citizen is definitely a possible walk to Gare place.
We stayed at the Belta Hotel, other side of the Canal St Martin from Le Citizen, thus a shorter distance to Gare de l'Est. Around the corner is our favorite bistro, Les Enfants Perdus.
I had relatives stay at Hotel Taylor and they enjoyed it! The area around rue du Château d'eau east of rue du Faubourg St Martin and west of République is really great, lots of hip cafés, good restaurants, some interesting shops too. It is a leisurely 15 min or brisk 10 min walk to Gare de l'Est.
Thanks, everyone. Now I have some choices to research.
