I will travel to Paris in August. Hotel du Champ de Mars is ideally located and may be a good hotel for me. However, just noticed it does not have air conditioning which could be a deal-breaker.
Please respond with your experience if you stayed at the Hotel du Champ de Mars in summer. I realize temperatures could be different, personal preferences different and all other things different, however, if you give me your personal experience with regard to air conditioning, I will make my decision.

I probably would not have slept as well without having air conditioning last July in Paris. We were glad we had it. If you find it hard to sleep on a hot muggy night at home, I would definitely splurge for a hotel with air conditioning.
We stayed at the Hotel Relais Bosquet which I believe is in the neighborhood you are targeting. If you "like" them on Facebook, you get a free breakfast that was excellent. We walked easily to many of our top sites and the metro was nearby.
JS, I haven't stayed at Champ de Mars in August but I have in June during the 2005 heat wave so I would highly recommend a/c for August! If you want that neighborhood, hotels with a/c are the Beaugency, Lévêque, Motte Picquet to name a few.
We've stayed at Hotel du Champs de Mars a couple of times, either in July or August and didn't suffer from lack of air conditioning. There was one summer, however, when we stayed in an apartment nearby and were uncomfortable because we had no air conditioning. So I guess it depends on the weather when you're there.
You might consider buying an inexpensive fan if you're going to be there more than a day or two. We are still fond of the hotel because of its location.
No AC in August is definitely a deal breaker. I've stayed in the Hotel du Cadran right across the street from the Hotel du Champ de Mars, and it definitely does have AC.
Definately get a hotel with ac , its true you may not need it, but i have visited paris many times in july and august and only once did i not need it. If its hot in paris you need ac, there are no " sea breezes" and leaving windows open is uusaully only marginally helpful, and only if not a light sleeper.
There are many great hotels with ac in same price bracket, and while that area is ok, you could easily find similar in many other areas, cafes shops markets.
We have stayed in the Champ de Mars for over 20 years, almost every month but July and August. I know they have fans but also know I would want air- conditioning in August. The Relais Bosquet has AC but is more money. As someone said if you like them on Facebook you can get free breakfast each day of your stay I believe.Other hotels close by that I believe are air conditioned are the du Cadran, the Muguet, ...I do not think all the rooms in the Levecque have AC but I could be wrong.
Love the Relais Bosquet!
Very helpful. Thanks to all.

We stayed at the Hotel in July a few years back in July. It was a very hot throughout Europe. The hotel was delightful but we were miserable. That is when I decided not to stay anywhere without AC in July or August ever again. Just my little experience. Good luck!
