Has anyone stayed here before?
I can't tell from the map whether or not it is in a safe area or in an area that two early twenties kids would like to be in. It gets decent ratings on Trip Advisor and Booking.com. They quoted a triple room for five nights for around $1200. Our other option is the hotel Eiffel Seine which is by the river and Tower. It's a bit more expensive but also directly across from the Bir Hakeim Metro and around the corner from the Champs de Mars Metro. http://www.hoteldescomedies.com/

That sounds expensive for "two kids." It looks like those triple rooms can go for as low as 120 euros per night, without breakfast. Rick does list a few cheaper places (without Wi-Fi and requiring cash), such as www.hotelportroyal.fr, double 85-90 euros.
Requiring cash to settle up your hotel bill is one thing (simple), but requiring cash to actually RESERVE the hotel (bank transfer) is cumbersome, outdated and adds another layer of cost to the tourist who is the one saddled with paying for wire transfers which are not exactly cheap. Port Royal Hotel accepts neither credit cards nor paypal, so be aware of the extra charges and fees you'll encounter there.
Thanks Tim. The Port Royal didn't look like the place for us. We passed.
