There was a nice picture and article in Travel + Leisure on this new hotel in the Loire Valley in France. It looks like a beautiful restoration. The 2 of us are thinking about making a reservation for a meal in May at its restaurant that opened in November 2019. Anyone heard of this place? I think it would be a feast for the eyes if nothing else! Thanks for your help!
I've never heard of it, but when I looked it up I have to say that isn't surprising.
I guess with a decent hire car with GPS it would be less than an hour's drive from the Loire, but it depends where you plan to spend that night. Certainly, if you were staying in the Loire Valley I wouldn't be travelling that far for a meal that involves wine
The "Loire Valley" is a similar concept to "The Marais" in Paris: it means whatever the author thinks they can get away with.
I don’t know, but they’re obviously on a marketing kick, as they keep showing up (as sponsored content) in my Instagram feed!
Edit to add: Wow Simon, indeed! Just looked at it on a map - that IS far!!
Claiming to be in the Loire Valley is a huge stretch -- this place is southeast of Le Mans, due north of a town called "Chateau-du-Loir" which is about halfway between Le Mans and Tours. Travelers driving down the A28 might see the exit sign for Chateau-du-Loir and think they are entering the Loire Valley, but they'd be mistaken.
The marketing certainly does make it look lovely. It has writeups in Tatler, Town & Country, etc.
