My wife and I will be in Paris next April (2015) with another couple and I think we'd like to stay in the Luxembourg Gardens area. Does anyone have recommendations? We don't want to stay in a chain, would prefer a quaint french hotel/B&B/apartment, and would like to keep the price to about $250/night or less. We are in our middle 60s and expect to be walking or riding the metro in and around Paris, so would like to be convenient. Thanks in advance for your help.
We liked the Hotel Home Latin. It is a small hotel on a side street in the Latin Quarter and is reasonable walking distance to Luxembourg Gardens, the Pantheon, Notre Dame, Metro stops etc. It is easy to find on Google. We have seen the Luxembourg Gardens in early May and early September and I'm sorry to September was far better. While there are no sure bets on the weather, remember that Hoagy Carmichael wrote April In Paris only because he needed a month that had two syllables.
This is a hotel we really like just two blocks from Lux Gardens, directly facing the Pantheon...Hotel du Pantheon. We have stayed here a couple of times and they recently remodeled to make each room unique. It's a small, boutique hotel that fits your budget. We have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and courteous. I think the hotel is now called Les Dames du Pantheon...they've gone with a theme centered around famous French women. Anyway, I do recommend it - we have always had lovely experiences with the hotel.
We liked Hotel du Pantheon as well. I also recommend Hotel des Grands Hommes (next door - same owners) and Hotel St. Jacques on rue des Ecoles x street is rue des Carmes (a block from the Pantheon).
We stayed at the Hotel Cluny Sorbonne. The location is great, just a 10-minute walk to the Seine and near 2 Metro stops: Cluny-La Sorbonne and St.-Michel.
Thanks everyone, good suggestions.
Please check Hotel Le Senat. If you're lucky, you may get a room within your budget, depending on your dates. It's extremely well located and quiet.
For apartments check Vacation in Paris .com VRBO and Flipkey. Have had great luck w all 3
I have used Vacation In Paris twice with no problems! Everything was as described and perfect!
Check out the Hotel Sainte Beauve. It's a lovely property close to Jardin du Luxembourg. It's also next door to Le Timbre, a terrific restaurant.
Another vote for Vacation in Paris! I have also used them twice. The nice thing is theyre based in the USA so if you have any questions or need suggestions you can just call them. And they speak English :)
