we are 2 females in our 60's ,1st time to Paris May 2025 .
the 2 districts i liked most were Latin Quarter and Marais ,are the areas suitable for 1st time visitors , btw not much on metro travel due to bad knees ,prefer bus, uber, taxi.
will be staying for 10 days , looking at Hotel Bretonneire in Marais or Paris Art Hotel Latin Quarter hope someone has stayed in either recently would like some info. I did read reviews and HB were mixed excellent to terrible .
The other Paris Art Latin Quarter had more positive than negative was pricier than HB, appreciate any input.
Budget about 250.00USD per night.
Also if do take buses do you tap credit card like in London or NYC ?
Any travel tips appreciated ,will be going to the iconic sights of Paris .
thank you
Since you mentioned taxi's...download the G7 official Paris taxi app. It's user friendly like the uber app, but for the official Paris taxi. Very clean and professional. No matter what other modes of transportation you use, it's so convenient when you want/need a taxi EXCEPT from CDG to Paris. From the airport just go to the official taxi stand. Do not be distracted by anyone offering you a ride. Just get in the official taxi line, and there is a fixed price from the airport to Paris (price dependent on left bank or right bank.)
to answer your actual question, you cannot just tap to pay on the bus (or metro) system in Paris, you must have either a ticket for that ride or a pass.
parisbytrain.com is a great resource, basically all of the advise is the same for the bus. i use the citymapper app and google maps to find what works. citymapper has some options, including a less walking option (i use the bus a lot when i'm there as many metros have stairs and no escalators).
Hotel Jeanne d'Arc Marais. We loved it. On booking.com but doesn't show prices/availability for 2025 but you might try their website direct.
Thank you , for some reason there booking page is not working. I will email them
