Hostel stays in Chamonix?

Last minute decision to take another short-notice trip to France. The weather looks like it might be great and I'd like to go to Chamonix after a couple days in Annecy.

I'm a a solo female traveler, 69, and thought it might be an interesting experience to stay in a hostel with the younger folks. (Not to mention balance out my housing budget after breath-taking Paris rates for the first few days.)

Does anyone have experience like this to share? Would my presence be welcome?

Our daughter stayed at a UPCA hostel in Chamonix. While it is a basic hostel, the location is fantastic. We returned a few days ago from a trip to France that included three nights in Chamonix. Our apartment was directly across the river from UPCA. Don't miss the Aiguille du Midi gondola as long as the weather cooperates. We could not see the top from ground level due to clouds, but once we reached midway to the top, we were above the clouds and had fantastic views.
