Hooray! June tickets for Font de Gaume now available!

I have been checking twice a day since just before May became available...obsessive, I know! Finally June is now available, and I scored the seven tickets I need on my first preference day, for the one English language tour offered per day. Lascaux will be later in the day after Font de Gaume and the musee at Les Eyzies. Now I can structure the rest of our time in the Dordogne. Sarlat's Wednesday market, and its Marche Nocturne on Thursday evening. Hooray, hooray!

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve been checking daily this week. I just bought ours for the English tour on June 5th. I think we will be there too early in the summer to enjoy any of the night markets.

Happy you got your tickets! For the Marche Nocturne, JoLui referenced a site to find all the markets in the Dordogne, and Sarlat's night market comes up as all year (weather permitting), Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. Check out www.jours-de-marche.fr/24-dordogne. All in French, but fairly easy to figure out. Bonne chance et bon voyage!

There's always one.... I dunno what's going on at National Monuments, but last year it was Abri Cap Blanche where the tickets didn't become available until what felt like the last minute. On the other hand, last year Font de Gaume and Grotte des Combarelles tickets were available in February for August.

Font du Gaume is the only site we are committing to at this point. We want to see so much: Lascaux, Pech Merle, Combarelles, Rocamadour, etc, but don’t want to be over scheduled while we are there (11 nights). We will wait and go with the flow, take our chances and book the day of, night before, for any others we see. Looks like Lascaux 2 has tours every day, so not too worried about that one. I’m so glad to hear the night market is year round. I’m an avid market-goer.

Congratulations on getting your tickets! I've dreamed of seeing Font de Gaume for a while now, but I don't know when I will have the opportunity to go. How do you plan on getting to Les Eyzies and from where?

We are renting a car in Bordeaux and returning it there. I highly recommend having a car while in the Dordogne region.
Have a great trip!
