Our family of four (2 boys in 20s) have 2 nights to spend in Honfleur in mid-September. We would like to have two rooms and stay at a place in town. From my reading I see that many hotels/inns do not have a/c or elevators. I would welcome any recommendations that offer both or at least a/c. Thank you.
Also, we are planning to drive to CDG on a Sunday for an afternoon flight and return the rental car. Would love to hear from anyone if that worked out.
Haven’t been yet myself, but you might want to check out the Ibis Styles Centre Historique - does have AC and elevators. Doesn’t have parking, though.
A Sunday in mid-September is unlikely to have bad traffic. The drive takes about 2.5 hours, let's call it 3 since you need a break + refill before returning the car. Therefore, if your flight is after 3 PM, it could work.
However, there is uncertainty. Can you afford to miss your flight? I'm not staying that you will if you stay in Honfleur, and after all, many people who live 2-3 hours from the airport just do the same thing as what you plan to do.
Missing it will be less likely if you stay closer to CDG. The Giverny area would be about the limit of my comfort zone.
Otherwise, A/C in Honfleur in mid-September is unlikely to be a necessity. The days are shorter by then, so even when it's hot during the day, the nights get much cooler.
Thank you for your responses. We're going to cross our fingers that we'll make it to CDG in time!
