Home base: Biarritz - Bayonne - San Sebastian for Basque region.

Hi All,

I have 3 nights to visit the French/Spain Basque country before I go to Pamplona, and I will driving down from La Rochelle. In addition to Biarritz, I also plan to visit San Sebastian, Guernica, and Bilbao.

Where should I select location to be my home base: Biarritz, Bayonne, or San Sebastian, please help for your suggestions?

We found that Bidart, close to Biarritz and Bayonne, was a much less expensive place to stay than the others. It is right on the ocean and the sandy beach was always deserted when we were there.

I am a big fan of San Sebastian, beautiful beachfront and a cullinary capital,we also stayed in St Jean de Luz in France which has a nice beach and restaurant scene on the water front.Both have great access to the Basque towns in the hills.
