Historic walking tour in Paris

We will be in Paris May 6th to 10th. Want to do the historic walking tour from RS guidebook. Does it make more sense to start at Notre Dame or Sainte Chapelle considering crowds and timed entry for Notre Dame hard to get in advance?

They are pretty close together. I would get the timed entry to Sainte-Chapelle first and then work your walk and entry to Notre Dame around that timing. Most comments I've seen both here and on FB indicate it's not difficult to get into Notre Dame even without a timed entry. Keep in mind that May 8 is a holiday - it's Victory in Europe Day and there will be some closures (not at Notre Dame or Sainte-Chapelle, though).

I recommend either printing out the map or saving it to your phone to refer to so you can start the route at any point. He has not updated it since the fire. Perhaps someone who has visited since it opened can speak to whether you can walk along the south side of Notre Dame to where on the map is viewpoint #6 or if there are still construction trailers along there.

Yes, according to vloggers the line to get into ND seems daunting but seems to move quickly. What no one mentions is, once you're inside is there some kind of time limit.
