hired car taxi where to put the luggage?

Hi! My first time to Paris with my 17 year old daughter. Should I hire a car to pick us up at the airport or would it make more sense to just take a taxi. I have no French so am intimidated by taking a bus or train.

Also I have rented an apartment (2 blocks from the Louvre) our check out time is 11 am. We need to leave for the airport around 2 pm. Our landlord has given me this advice for after check out:

The best for you would be leave your luggage in the morning in a locker company (see tourist office website) or in a train station like Paris Nord, and have free time in Paris until 3pm

I see that Paris Nord is a half hour away (on foot) from where we are staying. Does anyone have any information on locker companies? Are they common throughout Paris? Not sure that we want to be dragging luggage behind us until 2 pm.

Thank you for all your advice!

On the arrival end I always take a taxi from CDG. I'm tired, I'm jet lagged and I want to be delivered to my door. Look at and follow the signs for the Taxi rank in the terminal. There will likely be men approaching you as you exit baggage claim asking if you need a taxi. Ignore and walk on. (They won't hurt you.) Get into line at the taxi queue. Ignore anyone who says this is not the line for a Paris taxi - it is. It might look long but it moves fast. The manager at the head of the line will point you to which taxi he wants you in. They load 3 or 4 at a time. Have your apartment's full address typed out - I usually tape it to a 3x5 index card - and hand it to the driver. The price is fixed from the airport and your price will be 50E. I usually write out to the side 50E so they know I know...etc. No tipping is needed.

No advice on your departure. I am just able to leave my luggage at my hotel if I have a departure later than check-out.

You should just take a taxi, it would be more expensive to hire a car and there's no need. As Pam said, it's a fixed rate of 50€ from the airport to the Right Bank, where your lodging is located. Ignore the taxi touts in the terminal and go outside to the official taxi line.

If you plan to take the RER to the airport for your return, then consider leaving your luggage at the station in the morning and then just picking it up on the way to the airport. I would not walk 30 minutes with luggage but I think that you can get to the train station via metro or taxi in about 15 minutes for your accommodations. There are also many luggage storage places that might be near your apartment that could work for you depending on your plan for the day and even services that will pick up your luggage, hold it and deliver it to you. Take a look at citylocker.fr, nannybag.com, and eelway.com and there are many more that I have not used such as stasher.com. Just do a search using "luggage storage in Paris France" and you will see lots of options.

Yes, where to put the luggage when you check out of an Air BnB and still have time in Paris. My first thought was luggage lockers at the train stations, but the larger lockers are often full and can’t be reserved in advance.

I know someone who used city locker, which has unstaffed storefronts with lockers. 100% codes, one to enter store, one to open locker. Everything done thru email and text. Sounds good although they had trouble getting the locker open to remove their bag, and it took time to get a new code.

Then I looked at the list your landlord suggested, and found eelway.com. They have contracts with Paris hotels to store your luggage, and there are participating hotels near the Louvre. You reserve on their website, pay, drop off your bags at the hotel and pick them up when you want. There are lots of positive reviews on yelp and Facebook. The website also lists English customer service.

Some of the other companies on the list use restaurants, shops, private homes where you can store luggage in “a secure insured area”.

I’d probably check eelway and citylocker, and go with the one that was closest to your apartment. If you can, please let us know your experience...a lot of people who rent apartments and use this forum could benefit. Have a wonderful time exploring Paris with your daughter!

Bonnie: although the standard fare from CDG to a destination in Paris may be 50 euros, my recollection is that they charge extra per suitcase. It is not a lot, but just be aware of it. And we always choose to tip the driver, unless he scares the hell out of us with his driving. Peter

There is no extra charge for luggage. The 50€ fixed rate between CDG and the Right Bank is for up to 4 people and their luggage.
