I will be spending three days in Avignon with my wife to explore the town and surrounding areas. After her departure, I will have an additional week to myself in the region. I am seeking hiking opportunities and am open to staying in Avignon as my base or relocating to a nearby location, preferably within an hour by train. I've never done an inn-to-inn hike and would be open that option if available in the area.
I am quite mobile and comfortable with covering distances of 10 miles (16 kilometers) in a day. While I can handle 20 miles 2-3 days, it would not be possible every day. I am open to various elevation challenges, including stairs, and have a preference for ocean or sea views, though this is not a requirement.
Specifically, I am looking for recommendations for single-day trails and hikes in the area during the third week of June 2024. Additionally, I am curious if there are any hiking meet-up groups in the region. Having access to some nightlife would be a bonus, with a preference for nice places to eat and socialize rather than discos or clubs.
If anyone has suggestions for hotels in Avignon within the $200 range, I would appreciate hearing them as well.
