After disembarking a Rhone River cruise in April we want to do a few days hiking along the French Riviera. Any suggestions for central location ? accomodation ?

Just for clarity, you title says Provence (which is a large area) and your post says French Riviera. Are you looking for coastal hikes, countryside strolls or true hikes within the mountains? Where does the cruise end?

We leave the boat in Avignon & want to do coastal hiking primarily.

If you want to go to the coast, you might try going to Cassis and hiking the Calanques. In April, there is still a chance of some rainy weather, so be warned.
