Hiking in Normandy

We are two couples in our sixties who will be visiting Normandy in April. We are interested in some walking/easy hiking trails. We'll be based in Bayeux and will have a rental car. Do you have any suggestions for us?

This website may be of interest. Zoom in for details. The French word for hiking is randonnée, which might make your search easier.

France has a series of "Grande Randonée" footpaths throughout the country. Some are along rural roadways (although small ones), but some go through cow paths or farm country and coastline. If you research them you will find tons along and near the coast in Normandy. I used to run on one that brought me to/from Utah Beach and Sainte-Mère-Église when I was training for a marathon while in Normandy. I believe it was part of GR®223, which covers many miles of coast on the Cotentin Peninsula. My leg was 14+ miles round trip from my B&B in SME and was one of the most memorable parts of my trips. I'm sure if you search for Grande Randonnee in Normandie, or Grande Randonnee 223, you will find many sections near where you want to hike.
