Hello all,
we will be driving through Provence next week and plan to visit Arles. I have some concerns about the theft issue in Provence, and was hoping to get advice on a few good public parking areas in Arles. We will be driving in from St. Remy.
Appreciate the help.
William
We parked for the day on the street a few blocks from the market near a cemetery. Our BB recommended it. We made sure we had nothing that could be seen in the car. The things we put in the trunk were placed there before we parked. We didn't have any problems. I've had more car theft here at home than abroad.
We parked overnight along the riverbank, under street lights on 2 separate trips.
It was an economy rental car devoid of any contents.
My hotel was along the river close to the town wall. I parked along the river, didn't leave anything visible in the car and didn't have any problems. And yes, put things in the truck in a different location, not where you are parking the car. For me that applies while traveling and at home.
We stayed at Hotel La Regence on the river just inside the city walls on the north. There was public parking in Place Lamartine just on the other side of the city walls. Our car was fine for the entire stay and was very convenient for getting out of town easily for drives to Les Baux, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Avignon, Pont du Gard, etc.
Dale, that's where I stayed. I never had to park on the other side of the wall, but I'm sure there is plenty of parking there.
Thank you all... This will help
