help with apartment or hotel arrangments for three people in Paris

I have noticed that most of the hotels only have room for two people. I am trying to find accommodations for three people. Any suggestions out there? We would like as nice as possible for a budget price. Around $75.00 - $125.00 per night, if that is even possible. Close to the main attractions in Paris, or on a metro line that will get us to the main attractions fairly quickly.
Thanks for your help!

Jodi.. sorry I don't know what that equals in euros..but yes.. its a little harder to get a triple.

When is trip.. please please tell me its not in june... people leave it so late to book hotels for Paris in high season .. and when you have a special need ie budget or room occupancy its that much harder.

You'll get better suggestions if you provide more details. When are you traveling? Do all 3 people each need there own bed, or are two of you ok with sharing a bed? $75/night is not a lot for a triple in a hotel in a major city that is "close the the main attractions". You might have more luck on a site like Airbnb - but are you prepared to budget the extra money for things that apartment owners may require up front that may or may not be refundable - security deposits, service charges, cleaning fees, etc.? And the legality of some rentals of the Airbnb type is a bit of a grey area as some cities are starting to crack down on those who are renting out their apartments and not collecting/paying taxes.

But check online to see what is coming up in your price range for your particular dates and requirements. It's easy enough to apply filters on sites like Booking.com for hotels or Airbnb to see what is going to work for your budget and your needs and give you an idea of what you'll get for your money in various neighborhoods. Expect some small hotel rooms or apartments at that price in the single digit arrondissements - you'll likely get a bit more space if you are more willing to stay out further in some of the double digit arrondissements and travel around via the Metro or bus.

You may also want to look into booking a family room in a hostel as many of those can easily sleep 3, or you can look for a hostel that has quad rooms and if you are willing to pay extra for that 4th bed, the 3 of you can have the room to yourselves. As hostels update their facilities, many are starting to squeeze small bathrooms inside quads so you won't have to share with anyone outside of your group. And the many common areas within a hostel give you more space to relax. You'll also have access to a front desk staff that can help answer questions, make recommendations for places to go, etc. That is something you may not have if you stay in an apartment.

Please consider using airbnb.com. I have done two international trips at these rentals. Excellent and well priced.

You can look on booking.com, they show triples which are usually a double and one twin bed. You can sort by price and filter using the district list on the left. The lowest cost rooms are various Ibis hotels, these are well below your price range. The price varies widely with date and neighborhood but I see a triple in the 18th for only $108 in July.

You can change the currency on booking.com with a menu in the upper right to see the price in Euro which is the true price you will pay. The prices in dollars are converted from Euro and is handy for finding rooms in your price range.

Read the reviews and decide which sites you want to be near to find a room suitable for you.

Enjoy the planning and the trip!

I quadruple the motion for AirBnB. It is my go-to site for accommodations. You can easily search within your price range and preferred area in which you wish to stay. I have used it about 5 or 6 times in the past couple years alone, and have 4 places already reserved for the upcoming summer. I highly recommend it.

I'm not familiar with apartment pricing but hope it will fit your budget. More than 20 of the Paris hotels listed in Rick's guidebook have triple rooms but none that fit your budget, unless you stay at the youth hostel, which has triple rooms at €34 per person at www.mije.com or the "basic, cheap dive" at www.sullyhotelparis.com. The low end for other triple hotel rooms listed is €130-150.

I'm currently using (and have used many times in the past) airbnb for accoms in Paris for the end of Sept...I can tell you a lot are getting booked up...I guess it depends on when you are going. A lot of the ones on my wish list are already looking filled up thru August. I have a top 5 places I wanted to stay, and in the week since I picked my top 5, already one of them got booked for the dates I wanted. If you are going soon - don't wait to find somewhere!

You could look for hotels around the train stations. There are Metro stations handy and some hotels may cost less. At today's exchange rate, you can afford up to €110.

The owner of the local French bakery stayed at Ibis hotels during his last trip back.

I'd prefer an apartment. I've used VRBO previously with excellent results.

You could take a look at the cheap chains on the edge of eastern Paris e.g. take a look at Mr. Bed, Ibis etc at Galieni. This is at the end of the #3 metro line so easy access to town although not at all near the major sites. They have some triples and are cheap -- perhaps not as cheap as your budget which is way below market for a central triple in Paris. It is well below market for a central hotel room in major US cities as well although the US is less careful about how many people uses a room. In Paris if you don't book a triple for 3 you won't be allowed to take the room.

airBNB is a possibility although since holiday rentals in Paris are mostly illegal you always run the risk of not having a room when you arrive if the people in the renter's building have reported him to authorities.
