Help to decide between St. Germain des Près Hotels/Aug

Hello All,

We think we have narrowed our choices for our August hotel stay (husband, Kids - 16 and 20) both have adjoining room options; Hotel Academie or Hotel Baume. Does anyone have experience staying in one of these two? Would you recommend it? Is there another one that you think is better for a similar price point? Not that I want to confuse myself more! I think you have narrowed it down to two good choices though I have no personal knowledge of Hotel Baume (just basing my comment on the location). It's been a lot of years but I think my family of four stayed in two connecting deluxe rooms at the Academie Saint Germain. It's been years since we needed adjoining rooms and also this was before I started keeping trip notes in a Google doc so all I can go on is my memory which is that it was a perfectly fine stay. If my memory serves me the hotel has a traditional decor style which is not my favorite but seems to be what a lot of tourist want from decor in Parisian hotel. For all I know though, maybe it has been redecorated. Did you look at reviews on booking.com and tripadvisor? You've done well. What does "better" mean for you. I mean we stayed with the children at the Da Vinci Hotel & Spa which is a couple of steps away from the Academie a year or two later. It was better for me but that is because it has a spa area with a pool and massage therapy and the staff was beyond nice to my children.

I have booked Hotel Academie after tons of research, we really like staying in the 6th and i was the only hotel I could find that included breakfast, and not for an additional cost. It has great reviews and is centrally located. Which one did you land up choosing?

I have stayed several times at the Academie. We have tended to use it as our last-night hotel before returning home, but at least once we stayed for several days.

The hotel is well maintained and attractive, if a bit heavy on elaborate period flourishes. Just be aware that the rooms are quite small, even for France, and one room didn’t even have a dresser, just a very small armoire with a few shelves. There was a small desk and chair and the bed, and that was it. Pictures on the website are carefully framed but you can see how close the foot of the bed is to the opposite wall.

Staff is friendly and accommodating.

It worked out well for us because we liked the location, a few blocks from the buzziest, tourist-driven parts of St Germain but a short walk to them nonetheless.

Not sure how it compares in terms of price, but we had reserved at the Hotel de Seine for part of a trip that we unfortunately had to cancel last year. We have not stayed there, but it’s quite popular and the decor is also classic French. Maybe worth a look.

Sorry, but I don’t know the Hotel Baume.

I don't know either but if either lacks air conditioning I'd pick the one that has it. You will need AC in August.
