help ordering train tickets on SNCF

My credit card was rejected. And I only was offered E100.80 for 2 tickets from Paris to Beaune departing Paris at 10h23. on September 21.

I saw no options for paypal.

I thought I followed RS advice correctly.

Should I try again? Would this be the lowest cost for 2nd class.

Have you contacted your bank and told them you are making credit card purchases in Europe?
If you haven't, ands you haven't got history of making of making purchases in Europe, your bank may have blocked it as "suspicious".

Though why the bank doesn't have a list of trustworthy companies that do not get blocked., e.g. all transport operators, is beyond me.

If you are an American, you may need to notify your credit card company in advance. Otherwise, a quick guess is that you were a day or two early for your particular date. That price is what the SNCF site is showing today. There are cheaper tickets early in the morning and later in the afternoon, and those trains are direct; the one you are looking at requires a transfer.

Try https://www.capitainetrain.com. I learned about it here on this forum and found it immensely easier than the SNCF site. Prices were great, and I was able to reserve the seats we wanted for our TGV train Paris to Basel. We booked well in advance and saved a lot - you have a good amount of time before your travel date, so I hope you get a good deal as well.

Yes, at Capitainetrain you will get the exact same price as SNCF with less credit card headaches, but do notify your credit card co of pending "foreign" transaction.
You do see you could leave 2 hours later and save 15.80.

SNCF only offers the PayPal option if you choose the "Prems" fare. Since that fare is not offered on the departure you have in mind, and your credit card may not work with SNCF, switching to CapitaineTrain or RailEurope are the most likely options. The "TGV Leisure" price of €50 per person is a small savings over the "TGV Pro Seconde" (full fare) of €64.

Thanks all.

I booked through RS no problem.
