Help! Best Trips From Paris By Train

Please recommend the best short train trips from Paris! I am going on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Paris with my sister and best friends. I am studying abroad in Dublin and my twin sister and best friends are flying from the U.S. to visit for St Patty’s. We will be in Paris from 3/8 to 3/12 and Dublin 3/15 to 3/18. My sister and friends will be flying quite a bit, so we are looking to take advantage of visiting cities accessible by train from Paris. Please share the best recommendation for cities/wineries/hostels by train to spend from 3/12 to 3/15. Thank you so much!

Here's a book you might find helpful. While it's dated and any info on train schedules and routes should be checked, the destinations themselves won't have changed much.

France's rail system is very Paris-centric, so you may have a hard time planning visits to different places on different days without going back through Paris each time. It might be better to pick one non-Paris destination for 3/12-15 and use it as a base to explore further. I'd suggest either Dijon (Burgundy) or one of the Loire Valley cities (Blois, Tours, Amboise come to mind). Both areas are famous for wine and have other worthwhile sights, though a rental car would help if that's possible for you. Another great destination is Normandy -- Bayeux is a good base easily reached by train from Paris -- but it's one of the few parts of France where wine isn't produced.
