Help! Apartment to rent in Paris

I am in a quandary about where to stay in Paris, 10/1 - 10/10/2018. Last week I made a last minute decision visit Paris, book great flights from Chicago. Busy time there, not many apartments available. I have found 2 places that are available, but can't decide. Although I have been to Paris many times, I am not very familiar with either location. The other reason I am hesitant to book, is that there are no reviews for either unit. (my max rent is about $150 per day)

  1. From Home Away - a studio with a separate bedroom area - about two streets southwest of the Bonne Nouvelle metro stop, and near the Grand Rex movie theatre.

  2. From Paris Attitude - one bedroom, with a private terrace, in the 9th, a couple of streets southwest of St. Lazare metro/train station. They want a 300 Euro security deposit which will be charged a the time of booking.

I have NOT tried AirBn, as I had a horrid experience with them in 2015, for a place in the 16th. So horrid that they gave me all my money back.

Suggestions welcome, running out of time!

Sharon -
Try www.vacationinparis.com. We have rented from them a number of times and have always had a good experience. Their office is located in New York so you can call them and hopefully find a place immediately. They have all price ranges and have not had a large security deposit. Good luck.

Sharon, I understand, I had a very bad experience w ParisBestLodge (Thierry) last year, they now list their apts on VRBO and maybe Homeaway (same co owns both I believe).
I’ve rented from Paris Attitude twice and both experiences, and apts, were great. I also like the idea of a terrace, and the 9th is good so, me personally, of the two, I’d go with the PA apt.

June brings up a good point, deposits are the norm. I paid a 50% deposit to Paris Attitude.

I would not stay anywhere that does not have reviews and would definitely not give a 50% deposit. Have you tried VRBO? We have had excellent luck with them

Thank you, everyone for your suggestions. I tried ALL the suggested websites and many had great apartments. The problem was finding one with the 9 consecutive days/dates I needed. Maybe a result of the prior week being "Paris Fashion Week" some people extended their visit? Don't know.

The apartment with the terrace was taken off the market, so no longer a choice. At any rate, I settled on that VRBO studio that had no reviews. The owner said that it had just been redone, so perhaps it was off the market for a while. I'm hoping for the best.

Just to confirm, does your apartment have a thirteen digit identification number? These are mandatory in Paris, and without such a number, you run the risk of having the apartment yanked at the last minute, leaving you to scramble for replacement digs.
