Health Covid certificates

Covid tests. Silly me. I didn’t realize they had to be certified by some health group online in order to be useful for travel. Some of those are saying Make an Appointment. The tests from Costco say they have no cert process.

We are doing best of France April 9.
Some folks here have said “tests are everywhere you will have no problem coming back”. What about going?

Is there a summary somewhere of the steps to take for this process? Like if you already have a home test but it has no certificate link just an online guide to doing it?

What does this cost? United airlines has a $20 per person test. I haven’t checked Where one does it or How one procures the test itself

Thanks

My understanding is that France no longer requires testing from fully vaccinated travelers entering the country. I encourage you to look up entry requirements so you don’t spend time, money, and worry needlessly.

My understanding is that you will need a test to join the Best of France tour. There are testing opportunities upon arrival in France and the general wisdom is to enquire at your hotel for the closest testing location when you arrive.

You can put your free home test to use for your own peace of mind by testing prior to leaving the US so you don’t get any surprises in France.

Indeed, France no longer requires entry testing for "fully vaccinated" travelers -- but one needs to make SURE they fit the French definition of "fully vaccinated" before assuming one doesn't need a test.

Basically if you are vaccinated and boosted , and the booster is an mRNA vaccine, you are okay.

Other configurations may leave your status questionable, in which case it could be preferable to have a negative test result to make sure you are let in.

The tests you can buy off the shelf in a store are not valid for travel. You have to order covid tests that include a telehealth appointment - eMed is one website where you can buy them. They sell the Binax Now with telehealth. City Health Rapid Return (which I just used to return to the US) is another. I do have a stash of the off-the-shelf covid tests to use in the days leading up to travel. Before I went to London ten days ago, I got a PCR test (luckily there is a same day PCR testing facility very close by) the day before my trip, and did a home test before I left for the airport.
Maybe you will get lucky and the US will remove the return testing requirement while you are abroad! I am looking forward to that bit of travel stress going away as soon as possible.

Where I live, just about any pharmacy does rapid antigen tests that provide you a certified result - $25-30. You just have to pay attention to what hours they are doing them, and to know when you will get results back so as to be within the window of time allowed. Home tests are not enough because there is no proof that you actually did the test or verification of what the result is, unless you arrange and pay for the procotored online service.

Once in France you can easily get a test and paperwork in about half an hour at many pharmacies so you can do it there before joining a tour if the tour requires it.
