Having trouble renting a car in France on Sunday. Hire a driver?

We would like to travel from Amboise to Chartres on a Sunday. Ideally we would rent a car but I’m having trouble locating an agency that is open on a Sunday. When I check train schedules I keep being rerouted to Paris, lol. I’m wondering if we should just hire a driver/taxi? Feeling very flustered right now. Any ideas are appreciated. Linda

Also maybe St Pierre des Corps. If it's important to you, pay for Saturday.

Edit: Note 2 hour lunch closures in St P des C!

I agree that a car is as needed in the Loire as in Tuscany. And I don't prefer to rent a mighty steel steed.

You might find a car useful in Amboise anyway, so you might consider renting for your stay there as well.

There are no car agencies in Amboise. It's a small country town.

The closest car agencies are at Saint Pierre des Corps, and I believe some of them are open on Sunday morning

Thank you so kindly. I just rented a manual Fiat 500 from Saint Pierre de Corps Sixt car rental. I could not be more thrilled. We will be traveling to France for just a couple of days ( after a RS BOI tour ) to celebrate our 45th anniversary. Thank you for all of your tips and guidance!
PS Any advice about how to tell my husband that we are in fact going to be driving in another country? Lol Linda

I love it! He will be surprised! He will no doubt actually love the experience of driving through the beautiful Loire Valley.

If he will be the driver he will need to obtain an International Drivers Permit (IDP) from AAA before you depart for your trip. If you drive you will need one.
