Have you stayed in the GAS Hibiscus apartment?

Hello,
I'm considering staying with Guest Apartment Services in their Hibiscus apartment this November. Has anyone had any direct experience staying in this apartment? If so, I would love to hear your comments.

I have been to Paris many times but have always stayed in a hotel. My partner and I will be going this time for a couple of weeks and we thought we'd try for a place where we could dine in on occasion, that has a bit more space, and has a place to relax other than the bed.
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I have not stayed at Guest Apartment Services but am interested in them, as well. I have emailed them to find out which of their apartments meet my needs in September. I also need to know their cancelation policy. It looks like Hibiscus has a 30-day minimum stay. Is that what you mean by "a couple of weeks"?

Hi Lindy,

I find that "30 day minimum stay" statement confusing. We have contacted them about a 2 week stay and they are able to accommodate that. Their booking guidelines are very precise regarding days of arrival and departure though. I've copied below what I was sent:

"We also kindly inform you that during the Autumn rental season concerning our booking guidelines, arrivals and departures are required from Friday to Friday, Saturday to Saturday or Monday to Monday.
If you plan to stay more than 7 nights, you also can arrive on a Friday ( or Saturday or Monday), and leave the next Saturday (or Sunday or Monday), for 8, 9, 10 or 14 nights.
However, we do not take firmed reservation for mid-week arrival/departure days."

I've read many good things about the agency itself but I'm now trying to find out more about the actual apartment experience.
Good luck and I hope you have a wonderful stay in Paris.

Thank you. I appreciate your information. If you type "Guest Apartment Services" in the Search bar, there are a few conversation threads. Good thing I don't have my flights, yet. Those are some specific parameters!

I have a friend who has stayed there. I’ve stayed at a couple of other apartments they manage She was very happy and I’ve been very happy. I would recommend them

I just booked nine nights with GAS in the Tulip apartment. Tulip has a bedroom with a king-size bed and a curtained bed in an alcove off the living room. So, three can stay. I am thankful to those on the Forum for introducing me to this apartment service, especially Carol from another post. So, far the booking has been very smooth and the amenities truly amazing. The price is very reasonable given that the apartment is on the Seine in the Ile Saint-Louis!
I can enter the apartment when I arrive at @ 11:00 a.m. if there was no occupant that day or I can leave my luggage at their office, a two-minute walk from the apartment. I had booked a hotel that is very nice and highly recommended on TripAdvisor and is recommended in RS Paris guidebook. The difference in price is 3 euros more a day at Tulip than the hotel, but I get so much more including a washing machine/dryer.
I first tried to book with GAS about two months ago but there were no apartments that fit my needs. Then, just yesterday, I tried again and was able to reserve Tulip. Keep trying if at first you find you can't book.
Has anyone ever used a portable air-conditioning system which GAS has? I will be there in late September, so I'm not even sure I'll need it. Also, after seven days, I'm supposed to have a two-hour cleaning and fresh sheets and towels. How did that go if you had the same?

Tulip was the first apartment I’ve ever stayed in with this company.

It’s very quiet because you’re inside of a courtyard. I did not use the dryer part of the washing machine. I did use the washing machine. It had a drying rack and I just put the drying rack in the tub and dried my clothes there. I’ve never found those European dryers to be very effective or efficient.

The apartment is well furnished, and the alcove actually had like a curtain that you could close off. I was by myself, but I had booked it because a friend was supposed to come with me and we thought it would give us a little more privacy. She wound up not being able to come, but it would’ve worked well for us

I did get a cleaning while I was there I left and when I came back that afternoon, the place had been cleaned. Worked well. They have a safe and I used it to keep my stuff in so I didn’t really worry about when they were coming to clean.

I hope you have a good stay

Great information, Carol. The first and only time my husband and I used the drying cycle of an all-in-one washer/dryer our clothes came out looking like crepe paper. We quickly learned to ask in other rentals where the "wash only" cycle was. Thanks again.
Architetta, I hope you found what you wanted for November. Except for the Thanksgiving time of November, it is considered the low season by GAS.

Hi Lindy & Carol,
Thank you both for sharing your experiences.

I also found the booking process with GAS very easy. We didn't go with the Hibiscus apartment after all. It was only available in November and we wound up preferring a December trip. Additionally, I decided I'd like to have a Seine view so we reserved the Acanthus apartment on the Ile de la Cite instead. I am really looking forward to staying there.

Carol, It is very helpful to hear about your first-hand experience.
Lindy, the Tulip apartment looks lovely. I hope you have a wonderful stay.
Safe travels.
