Have you stayed at Hotel la Mirande in Avignon?

RS France book (published Jan 2021) recommends if seeking top comfort. It's pricey, so just wondering if you have stayed there and believe it to be worth it. It looks like it is!!

We stopped for an afternoon drink many years ago, and it was a sublime setting.

We also took a dinner/cooking class in their classic kitchen, with a special dinner in a special lower-level dining room. We stayed at a B&B elsewhere in Avignon, but those wonderful experiences were a little hint at the grandeur we’d have gotten had we splurged on staying at the Mironde. If you’re going to GO BIG, there’s no better place!

The chef at the cooking class was the incomparable Robert Brunel, who later opened his restaurant Numéro 75. When you’re in Avignon, be sure to have lunch or dinner there!

La Mirande is an amazing hotel but get CLEAR directions on parking if you're driving a rental car!

Originally a 14th-century cardinal’s residence, it's now a 5-star, luxury, 26-room hotel featuring rich tapestries, indienne fabrics, silk-lined curtains, vintage wallpapers, and Carrara marble. But it also has modern touches, such as in-mirror televisions! If you have time, take one of their cooking classes. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, chef Séverine Sagnet prepares a private chef’s table with the day’s market finds. Don’t miss it!
