Have you seen any Metro controllers recently?

I received a reminder from an American living in Paris that the controllers are out in force and will administrator fines if you don't have your ticket. So remember to always keep your ticket until you are completely outside the Metro station. Don't throw it away on the platform, nor the hallways or stairs.

Have you seen controllers or do you have advice to ad?

Yes, ticket inspectors are especially common at the beginning of the month. The fine aren't huge by world standards (50€) but if you are still using paper tickets, hang on to it!
By the way, the same applies to buses and all other French public transport systems - some of which have metros which do not even have turnstiles (e.g. Lille).

I’ve been stopped twice in the past 3 weeks. But I use a Navigo card so don’t worry about misplacing a paper ticket. But if I did, I’d make sure to keep track of it and not throw it away til I finished my journey. This particular advice is decades old but it’s always good to mention it for the newbies and the forgetful.

I might add that prior to using the Navigo card, I used to fold used Metro tickets in half and put them in a different coat pocket. When I had to present a handful of folded tickets to a controller one time, I got scolded for the folding because they were damaged. :(

We have been here one week, using the metro a couple of times a day -- and have been ticket checked 3 times already. We were checked returning to Place d'Italie at 10:30 this evening. Another check was on a Sunday afternoon.
