Has anyone used the car service gettransfer.com?

I have booked a car to take us from our Lyon apartment to our hotel by the Geneva airport through this website. The site lists offices in cities around the world. The traveler lists the itinerary and then receives offers describing the car and price. One accepts an offer by paying in advance (my lowest offer was €170), though the site states that the money is refunded for cancellation at least 24 hours in advance. Of course, this is all only as good as the company is real and reliable. Thanks for any info or other recommendations.

If you are flying from GVA and being there by a specific time is important, I would be very concerned about paying in advance for any service, particularly the lowest offer service, and one in which I did not have direct contact. It sounds like you are dealing with a 3rd party booking entity.

Any reason why you are not taking the train?

I assume that, since you're going to a hotel rather than the airport, your flight would be either on the next day (or beyond if you're spending a little time in Geneva). In that case, you might want to try blablacar, if you're not opposed to riding in a private car. You should see a better price.

I'm not familiar with get transfer.com.

I'm not familiar with the company, but it sounds like one of those 3rd party booking sites that doesn't have any cars on their own. A bit like Hotels.com or Booking.com.

But I also have to ask, why not just take the train?

Just look at the OP's other post to learn why the train is not the preferred choice.

Way too many negative reviews of this company on the Internet. I would find an alternative.

Thanks so much for the feedback. We’re not taking the train because we’re elderly with some mobility issues, and we find it difficult to get our luggage (and sometimes ourselves) on and off trains. I can’t find any information that would assure me of assistance in the French train stations. Yes, we aren’t flying out of Geneva until the day after leaving Lyon.

OK, I understand about the mobility issue.

Have you tried contacting the SNCF about their baggage delivery service Mes Bagages en Gare? They may be able to forward your luggage to the GVA train station for as little as 19.50€ per bag. Information is here.

Unfortunately I am not sure the information is available in English but if you give us your travel dates and times, we can try some dummy bookings and be able to evaluate the service's applicability to your situation.
