I stayed at Hotel Chavanel in November 2013. It's a long time ago so I have no idea if it is now under different management or been renovated, etc. I was put there by another hotel after there was an issue with my room. Hotel Chavanel is fine. It's a perfectly acceptable hotel --nothing horrible and nothing spectacular. It ended up being a great spot for me because I traveled from Gare St Lazare to Normandy during that trip and also took Metro Line 13 to Saint Denis. The hotel is very close to some excellent shopping. If you are looking in that area, which is very, very different from the area around Hôtel Cler you may want to consider Hotel Saint-Petersbourg Opera & SPA and Hôtel Caumartin Opéra - Astotel. If you want to stay near Hôtel Cler, have you looked at Hôtel de Londres Eiffel, one of my favorite hotels that I have stayed at in Paris.
