Has anyone driven out of Paris from Gare St Lazere?

We will be picking up our rental car at Gare St Lazere. We are renting there because our Airbnb is very closeby and we will have some bulky items. Has anyone rented from there? If so, was there a particular route you took that got you out of Paris? My husband was a bus driver and is not phased by city driving. We are heading south towards Dijon. Thank you.

Go west past Etoile/Arc de Triomphe and get on the periferique south ring road freeway) and go all the way south around to the A6. I have gone west from not far from the Gare St. Lazare. Some taxi drivers may go north to Porte de St. Ouen and get on the periferique going west and around to the south.

Viamichelin.com shows a route down through Paris and south onto the A6 at the Porte d'Orleans. Put your info into viamichelin.com and you'll see it takes you south via the Madeleine, Concorde, Blvd. Raspail. It will jam for sure as you get toward Alesia.

It will take the patience of a former bus driver : ) unless you're driving on a Sunday morning.

Not fazed by city driving? That's pretty funny. Paris traffic is a unique animal like no other.

We'ver driven in Rome with no trouble. And our plan is to stay on the main streets to exit Paris. We know it will be slow.

If you can drive in Rome, you can drive in Paris. I have driven in Paris a good bit and I find it not that difficult. Even before I could speak or read French, it was not a problem -- but I learned how to drive in New York City. Yet after one experience driving in Rome, I vowed never to drive there again. I think that your former bus driver husband will be fine.
