Hi all, have any of you done a balloon flight in France? Any recommendations or suggestions as to the best companies to use or places to do one? Was the flight worth the money? My husband and I are considering France for a 25th anniversary trip so would be willing to splurge if the flights are amazing. I know amazing is subjective, but just wanted to hear what all of you thought of the experience. I'm considering locations in the Pyrenees, the Dordogne Valley, or the Loire Valley. Thanks!

Depends on how much risk you are willing to take. Being in a hot air balloon can be peaceful with only the sound of the occasional blast of the hot air. But, there is no control of direction except up and down by the hot air. You go wherever the wind blows. Biggest danger is electric lines. Even experienced ballooners have been killed. I have been in one once but I'm not willing to take the risk again. It's a personal choice.
In France, I'll take my splurge via food.

Haven't done one in France but in my opinion it would probably be amazing! I loved my ride in Napa Valley and would take another one in a snap - only thing holding me back is cost. But as an anniversary splurge I think it would be worth it.
If nobody replies with actual experience, just google 'hot air balloon rides in France'. Take a look at the pictures on this website, it's enough to make me want to empty my piggy bank and do it.
