Has anyone been to the Musée de la Cinémathèque cinema museum?

Being a movie buff, when I came across the Musée de la Cinémathèque I thought it might be a fun stop during my upcoming 2 weeks in Paris. Has anyone visited? Impressions? Worth the time?

I was there a long time ago and really enjoyed it. Lots of iconic Hollywood things, and France has its own rich cinematic history. Actually pretty great.

I share Pam's opinion. The building itself is of interest being a Frank Gehry design.

I'm a film buff too, and I went for two reasons: 1) I was going there anyway to see a movie, and 2) It was free with my Museum Pass.

It was OK, but I've seen many other better ones. I'm not sure it's worth taking extra time or money to see, but if you'll be there anyway and it's not expensive, go for it.

Do look at what's on at the Cinematheque for your dates: http://www.cinematheque.fr/calendrier.html#aujourdhui

One fun feature is that they have an LED board that shows subtitles under the screen; with this, they can show un-subtitled prints, with the French subtitles underneath rather than on the print (so, they don't need to worry if their print has no subtitles). The only other place I've seen this setup is at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

While you're at it, check l'officiel des spectacles for other films playing around town: https://www.offi.fr/cinema. You never know what's being revived; lots of old US movies play runs at regular Paris theaters. Of course, one big problem I've run into is finding something showing I want to see, then realizing it's not in English (I can speak a bit of French, but not nearly enough to understand a movie, in, say, Japanese with French subtitles!)

Thank you so much for your responses. The links are very helpful, and it looks like I have other movie museums in my future!
