Guided tour of Notre Dame

Are there any guides you would recommend who would do a personal guided tour of Notre Dame for a reasonable price for 2 seniors? We will be in Paris for a few days with a river cruise and it does not include the cathedral, but we don’t want to miss the opportunity. We will be there in September, 2026.

Notre Dame Cathedral has free admission since it is an active church. No tour is needed visit. An audioguide is available for rent. While tickets can be reserved 2 days in advance, it is really not necessary. The line for those without tickets moves fairly quickly.

If you want to climb up to the Towers, there is an admission fee and advance purchase is required.

Another option is to attend a service at the Cathedral.

Jeanm has outlined the current situation for visiting, but as you're not going until September 2026 I suspect there could be a different process for entering the church (a lot can change in a year). In the before times it was easy to just walk in and use the audio guide or follow the RS guidebook tour. I will say that in current times, based on my experience this August midday on a Saturday, the line to get in the church was enormous and not remotely moving quickly (for ticket holders or the general admission). I sure hope shorter lines are one of the improvements a year from now!
