I am a 35 year old female traveling solo to Provence this summer and am hoping to do a guided bike tour. I am active but more of a weekend rider so I am looking for more relaxed, moderately difficult routes - nothing too intense. My searches have turned up mostly self-guided tours and those guided tours that I've seen are ridiculously expensive ($5,000 and more for just a few days). I have considered a self-guided tour but really don't want to be alone the whole time and was hoping to connect with other travelers. Can anyone recommend an affordable tour company? Any advice for meeting up with other cyclists if I did do a self-guided tour? My feeling is that most people doing self-guided tours are either couples or families or people who just want to be solo anyway.
