Grocery delivery service/app in Paris?

We are scheduled to arrive in Paris a week from tomorrow. I am hopeful that our Passes will be issued before we land, but I am making contingency plans for the first day or so if our CDC cards are not accepted.

We are staying in apartment near Port St. Denis... Can anyone recommend a grocery delivery service app that we could use to purchase our first day or so of staples, such as coffee, fresh fruit, jam, etc.?

We should be able to find an open air market for supplies on Day 2, but I know we will be wiped out by the time we get to the apartment. Thanks!

If you don’t find an app, you could ask the apartment manager to do some shopping prior to your arrival, for a fee of course. I’ve seen this offered many times when renting apartments.

Thanks. I have thought of that as an alternative route. Currently exploring all options.

You do not need to show the health pass in individual supermarkets. You will need them for larger shopping malls. Many people have been reporing that their CDC card is being accepted in lieu of the French health pass.

The American University in Paris has an orientation list of local delivery services:
AUP Delivery Services list

If you are trying to place an order for delivery before you arrive, the delivery periods can be quite long and your landlord may not be able to wait. The other thing I’ve experienced is that there are not always same-day delivery appointments (at Carrefour for example, which I’ve used).

Not sure where your apartment is in Porte Saint Denis, but there is a G20 market in that area that may be open late. Or your landlord may know of a corner market (épicerie du coin) open later.

But as others have said, you shouldn’t have any trouble entering a market.

You are being extremely cautious. A Pass Sanitaire is not needed to go to a grocery store. As someone currently living in France who has large, heavy groceries delivered by Monoprix every few weeks (jugs of water, wine, 6-packs of milk), believe me, you don't want to be stuck in your apartment waiting for the delivery. You have Franprix, Monoprix, Lidle, in that neighborhood. Additionally, there’s a covered market open six days a week on rue Château d'eau with excellent produce, fish, cheese, and meat vendors.

Grocery stores don’t check your pass, as others have said.

But, you shouldn’t just be waiting to get your QR code. You need to be reapplying in the morning or late afternoon Paris time, while the office for these things is open. I would reapply today around 4:15pm Paris time and tomorrow around 9:15am Paris time if it doesn’t work the first time, but I expect it will.

To answer the original question, there are plenty of grocery delivery apps these days, including Uber Eats. But it can be tricky to communicate with delivery folks if you do not have any French, and small supermarkets with extended hours are ubiquitous in Paris, so there is indeed very little need for delivery if you are able.

I’ve ordered from Uber Eats a few times over the past few weeks. I was initially worried about communicating with the drivers but they’re generally young and can speak/understand some English - I’ve encountered a few that could speak 3 or more languages! I was getting food delivered to a hotel so in a pinch, I could have asked the front desk to speak to the driver for me. But as already mentioned, you can go to grocery stores without a pass sanitaire so that’s probably easier.

Thank you to everyone who replied to my posting -- lots of helpful suggestions. Thanks also for clarifying the Passe entry requirements. I am probably obsessing over this, but with all the frequent changes in the US and EU, I want to be as prepared as possible so when we hit a new wrinkle, I can focus on that instead of something I could have addressed earlier. And I am particularly concerned because I am bringing my 89 year-old mom on what may be her last trip to Paris, or Europe, so I want to make lots of great memories for the two of us.

Thanks again!
