For a little, sit-down creperie where you can have cider with your crepes, I like Creperie Josselin in Montparnasse. For a quick, Banana/Nutella crepe, my favorite are from the little stand in front of Eglise Saint Germain des Pres, on boulevard Saint Germain. They're always made fresh, and they use a whole, sliced banana!

I would heartily second the Crêperie de Josselin recommendation... it's worth seeking it out.

Ah, but will it be the best crepe? The OP wants "the best" crepe in Paris.

Josselin was the best crepe I had. So...IMHO it was the best:)

The "best" anything is subjective. The best crepe I had in Paris was in Montmartre but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the place or what street it was on - it was a street vendor but it was scrumptious, don't know what they did to make it different from others but it was.

I was at Crêperie de Josselin recently and both the galettes and crepes were quite good. We were disappointed that the galettes were too crispy. Of all the many creperies on that street, and there are many, Josselin was the only one with a line outside in the pouring rain, and tables were really squeezed in. In fact I saw a tiny chair from the kitchen brought in to go at the corner of a table. It relly is jam packed.

I also went to Crêperie Pen-Ty in Place de Clichy based on this review I found in the Lonely Planet book:
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/france/paris/restaurants/french/creperie-pen-ty right on the border of the 9th and 18th.

Much smaller place, nice atmosphere, helpful staff - and the galettes and crepes were the consistency we wanted. I prefer it. Yumm.

Josselin is good but can, as Nigel said, have long waits for a table. Another one a couple of streets away I enjoyed was Ti Jos at 30 rue Delambre.

Although I think I've only once had a bad crepe in France, and that was from a stall in a heavily tourist-based village in Provence where they shoved it in a microwave right in front of me to heat up.

Philip has hit the nail on the head (to coin a phrase!) .... it is highly likely that you will get a really good crepe no matter where you buy it. Will it be the best? Who knows? Would you know the best if you had it? If it's really good and you enjoy it and the whole experience gives you pleasure, then what a happy day!

Thanks to everyone about suggestions and places to look for, have sites bookmarked. Traveled to Quebec City couple years ago for fall color cruise. Spent 6 days before cruise, absolutely loved it. Walking all around with fall decorations, taking day trip to ile d'orleans, sainte-anne-de-beaupre and the canyon. Enjoyed some local french food and yummy crepes. Guess I will be doing a "crepes crawl" in paris. Can't wait!!

Princess, the best spot we found is a cafe called Lepic Assiette, at 35 Rue Lepic in Montmartre. We went on the Paris Walks Montmartre walk (highly recommended), and passed it on the way up the hill. After the walk we returned here and had a really good lunch-gallettes with a sweet crepe for dessert, and a memorable salad with huge chunks of bleu cheese. Inside and outside tables on a nice street.
Over in the 5th we had a late meal at Le Pot Au Lait, which was very good as well.
We did eat at Breizh Cafe too, in fact had reserved before we arrived in Paris. It is certainly very good food and service, but we felt that it was a bit over-hyped. Very busy.

Princess, Have you read "Paris, my Sweet"? It's about a New Yorker that moves to Paris and documents her own "Pastry Crawl". She gives excellent descriptions of the food and lists the names of the restaurants and bakeries. Some more research for your trip!

Crepes are pretty much generic throughout Paris and basically depends upon the quality of the ingredients used and how they make their batter. We really enjoyed Creperie Josselin as mentioned several times above. Go for the food, not the atmosphere. The line is long, but moves fast. The noise level is high, the tables are really close to each other, and they hussle you in and out. What sets these crepes apart is they are dripping with great Brittany butter. Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeuGhhtWj50. As you can see, unlike other crepe places, they pile on the butter, probably 1/3-1/2 stick of butter per crepe. And check out the huge platter of butter that sits on the counter. And you wonder why everyone loves their crepes?
For alternatives, agree with checking out David Lebovitz and Paris by Mouth recommendations.
