Great Cafes or Restaurants near Luxembourg Gardens

Any suggestion for great place to eat near Luxembourg Gardens? No kids on this upcoming trip to Paris in May so does not have to be family friendly! Many thanks, Victoria in Toronto

I like this café right across from the entrance closest to the back of the Medici Fountain. I eat here often, good food, good service.

Georgette, Bread and Roses, Brasserie Lipp. The first two are just a couple of blocks west of the gardens on quieter streets. The third is on St. Germain.

victorialittler,
Not exactly near the Luxembourg Gardens, but close by in St. Germain...Cafe Breizh (St Germain location) and Cafe Mucha. Both had great service, nice seating for watching the world go by, great food, and good prices. Alas, Brasserie Lipp, an old family favorite, has gone downhill in service, especially to obvious tourists. Prices were high for the quality of food, service was poor, and the waitstaff were snooty, something we have not found in other restaurants in Paris (or in France in general).
Bon appetit!

Judy, thanks for the opinion on Brasserie Lipp. I have eaten at the other 2 but not there but it is mentioned often by folks who have a reasonable sense of good food. Agree re Breizh; we go there every visit.

Claire, Yes, It is a shame re Brasserie Lipp. In the late forties and early fifties my mother-in-law and her brother hung out there regularly, getting their main meal of the day and sometimes bringing home the leftover bread to have for their evening meal in their tiny walk-up apartment. Things were tough there post-war.

We went there in late May last year in a sort of pilgrimage to the old days. (Hubby and I had been there several times as well.) Alas, disappointment reigned.
Glad to hear you liked Cafe Mucha and Cafe Breizh.

This isn't my post, but I'm glad someone asked. I've made notes on these restaurants and will try to report back in late April.

I really enjoyed Le Danton, very close to Breizh, about a block north of the garden.
