I am taking my 13 year old granddaughter to Paris in the April 2023 . Her first time and my second time though long ago. Looking for areas and things to do other than the obvious sites post Covid advice . We will be there 5 full days and staying on the Left Bank St. Germain. She like to do art. Art classes for young adults She like to bake....baking classes. I have seen many but would like recommendations, She is also into fashion. Advice or recommendations for shopping for teens or fashion shows and fashion museums etc. Thanks in advance for advice and recommendations.
Congratulations for centering your trip around your granddaughters's interests and including her in the planning. Unfortunately I have no particular suggestions to offer. But look at the Painting Lesson post in the France Forum, 10/21/2022.
Bon Courage et Mangez Bien!
There’s great shopping all over the place. One thing I did with my young teenage daughter on her first trip to Paris was to let her go into stores that caught her eye and then negotiate her own purchase, which she thought was really fun. The Rue de Rivoli has a lot of good stores - she’s sure to recognize many of them from home.
It might also be fun to take her to Samaritaine. The architecture is gorgeous and the grouping of little high fashion (and super high price) shops in there is incredible. Here’s a link with some pictures and info: https://www.sortiraparis.com/loisirs/shopping-mode/articles/104751-samaritaine-paris-decouvrez-les-espaces-shopping-et-les-restaurants
You might not want to offer to buy her anything in there though:)
There is the Musée de la Mode near the Louvre.
I would take her to Angélina for a hot chocolate and pastry. Or Ladurée. The tea house setting is quite chic.
Really it all depends on what she's looking for. For a mall, the Forum de Halles offers a lot of prêt-a-porter options
I went to a fashion show with my mother at either Printemps or Galerie Lafayette years ago. I believe they still do them and I don't recall it costing anything.
Dig around to see if there are any fashion-centric exhibits during your visit. One year when I went with a girlfriend, we saw a wonderful Dior retrospective exhibit at the Palais Galleria.
Also, check AirBnB Experiences. There are loads of cooking and art-related classes on there. Here's one - sketching in the Latin Quarter:

Oh! And take her to Sennelier for a few art supplies. I always have to pop in and bring something home to my studio (even if it is something i can order online -- it came from Paris :-) The location on the river: 3 Quai Voltaire, 75007 - that's the original. They created pastel for Picasso. Cézanne, Gauguin, and Vincent van Gogh were also customers.
Thank you all so much . Your response are terrific and gratefully appreciated. We are not going until April so feel free to come back and offer more ideas. I love these suggestions .❤️
I have not been yet but I have it on my to do list for my next visit: https://www.palaisgalliera.paris.fr/en/collections/collections
I have a niece who had it on her must do list for her first visit to Paris and she loved it. Should I mention that she is a fashion designer and stylist? For what it’s worth, I found the Dior retrospective by accident during a trip and loved it. I waited in line about an hour because I had not pre-bought tickets. My niece also went to fashion show at Galeries Lafayette. She booked it online and it cost around 14€ per person.
The Yves St. Laurent museum over in the 8th is awesome. We really enjoyed it.
@JHK — wasn’t that Dior exhibit amazing?? We waited in line 45 minutes and we had tickets! I thought the fashion show at Galerie Lafayette (or Printemps) was free, but maybe it wasn’t - that was on my mom’s list and she organized it so maybe it had cost.
Another suggestion— if your granddaughter is a fashionista herself, she might enjoy a private photo shoot in Paris. Again, check AirBnB Experiences — there are many of those on offer.
Whatever you do, I am sure you’ll both cherish the memories. I had many trips to paris with my mom that I have good memories of and I took my niece for her 18th bday and we both still talk about it 10 years later :-)
@BJL, Yes, that Dior show was amazing. I don't know when you went to the fashion show with your mother but it could have been free then. My niece went very recently. I know I am getting old but it feels to me like lots of things have been monetized that used to be free.

@JHK - I just looked back and it was 2008. And you're not wrong about the monetizing of everything.
My 13 year old daughter has similar interests as your grand-daughter. When we were in Paris this year, she enjoyed the following:
Graffiti art workshop - https://en.graffitiparis.com/street-art-workshops/
Street Art Tour in Montmarte - (was the favorite) https://www.streetarttourparis.com/tours/montmartre-street-art-and-art-history/
Macaron baking class https://haussmann.galerieslafayette.com/en/events/french-macaron-bakery-class-in-the-heart-of-paris/
Her interest is fashion is not couture (as others here have noted) but rather vintage and thrift. We spent an afternoon shopping at the many vintage/thrift stores in the Marais. She really liked the Kilo Shops http://www.kilo-shop.com/en/home/
